The Backstory
Backstory to the The Let’s Connect Conference
From Nathan’s initial website and blog about how he came up with this concept in 2019.
A few years ago, I started to take the advice of others to build my business around another model. To make a long story short, it almost wiped our business out. I realized my former business model worked, which was helping those who were like me and believed in me.
We at NW & Associates, LLC identify as a bipoc (aka, Black, Indigenous, Person of Color), woman, and veteran-owned business. When I started to focus back on what I knew, our business picked up and led us to where we are today.
To take it a step further, I created a FB Live video over a year ago, and it led to me creating a new service called Connected.
You can watch the video if you click the link, it will redirect you to Facebook.
I created Connected because I was tired of feeling the need to do business in Portland and focus in Vancouver, WA. In my opinion, we focus too much on Portland businesses and leaders than our own. So that’s when I said “enough is enough” and put together a morning coffee, and we filled the room.
This event is for professionals who desire encouragement and growth in their career and personal life who are business owners, c-suite executives, or key leaders identifying as minorities, women, and veterans. If you don’t, that’s okay too.
Why am I telling you this?
There is a collective group of people who want this as well because we know Vancouver is a perfect microcosm of a community that gets overlooked. As I’ve witnessed it all my life, the community of Connected professionals has a mindset of building others as we grow.
As I told the group, my goal is to be an investor so that I can offer startup funds, loans, business development consulting, an incubator space, mentorship, and camaraderie. There’s a lot of work I need to do, but I know it needs to be done. However, I can’t do it by myself.
If you’d like to help, I offer an invitation for us to sit down and chat.
In February (a few months ago), we had a great happy hour event. Funny enough, I couldn’t even capture all who showed up. I’m proud to say that we have many local professionals and leaders who want to connect and do business together.
This was the validation I needed to go further, work harder, and make it happen on a grander scale.
There’s a lot more to say, but I wanted to keep it brief. In order to make a difference, we have to make progress on the things we can do.
– We all have something to offer.
– We all know things need to change.
– We all can make a difference.
In case you didn’t know by now, I dream big. And thank you to all those who continue to encourage me to not settle and be me.
About the Let’s Connect Conference
A safe and business-friendly event for BIPoC, Women, and Veteran businesses to grow and be encouraged throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Established in 2021 by NDUB Brand.
As a Black male and US Marine Corps Veteran, I’m proud to represent and help fellow professionals heading down the path of entrepreneurship. In my entrepreneurial journey, the roadblocks haven’t been easy but the victories along the way make it worth it. I believe there are many others out there who identify as such and feel the same but aren’t given the opportunity to connect on this level in the Pacific Northwest.
This event is for professionals who desire encouragement and growth in their career and personal life who are business owners, c-suite executives, or key leaders identifying as minorities, women, and veterans. If you don’t, that’s okay too.
We do not discriminate. This conference welcomes all who choose to attend. The focus is on building each other’s business while keeping the balance of purpose and pleasure as one. It’s undeniable that balance can be difficult no matter which industry, age, race, or region we live in- but we still must try.
Nevertheless, we still crave community within both circles of life, professional and personal.
We do not discriminate.
